Client

The client is a luxury resort looking to modernize how they handle transactions. They wanted a unified payment system built on their own tokenomics framework to cut out banking delays, stop chargeback fraud, and make it easy for guests to pay for everything across the property.

Business Challenge

Revenue loss was significant to the Client due to high credit card processing fees and the inherent risk of “”friendly fraud”” or chargebacks. The reliance on third-party credit card processors meant that the company had to wait for days to receive payments. Customers expressed their dissatisfaction with having to carry physical cards and cash within a resort environment where they were supposed to get away from their day-to-day activities.

Off-the-shelf point-of-sale systems, as well as standard hospitality enterprise resource planning systems, were not able to support internal utility token development natively. Existing closed-loop cards were usually associated with specific vendors and lacked the transparency and security of a distributed ledger system.

What the client needed was a payment solution that integrates well with their brand, rather than just a third-party application. It needed to have enough flexibility for the guests to use their tokens with a mobile device, a web browser, or a virtual environment, which required safe digital wallet integration.

Solution

The mission was to build a proprietary token-powered payment platform that works independently of the global banking system. This solution stays compliant and user-friendly while unifying all resort financial flows into one digital ecosystem.

Core and AI Components

The main idea behind the solution was a blockchain network that was EVM-compatible, utilizing an ERC-20 utility token. We created a token-based payment system to facilitate smooth digital transactions throughout the resort.

Platform and Mobile Architecture

Guests access the experience through a React Native mobile app with an integrated digital wallet. MetaMask and WalletConnect keep token transactions secure across all touchpoints, while the token itself works the same way on mobile, web, and in Unity-powered 3D environments.

Backend and Security

A Node.js and PostgreSQL-based backend is developed for transaction and operational activities, running on the AWS platform (Lambda, S3).

  • Data Handling: Operational data is stored off-chain, while the blockchain is utilized for token transfer.

  • Security: OAuth 2.0 is utilized for authentication, while wallet security is ensured through the use of MetaMask and WalletConnect.

  • Scalability and Performance: The architecture supports heavy transaction traffic across all properties with no drop in speed or reliability.

Discovery and Requirements Definition

We analyzed the client’s existing payment workflows, business constraints, and ecosystem goals to define the functional and technical requirements for a token-powered payment infrastructure.

Architecture Design

We began with a blockchain payment system compatible with EVM and a custom model for the ERC-20 token. Then we tracked all interactions for mobile, web, backend, and 3D environments to process many transactions without bottlenecks.

Prototyping

Our UX/UI designers developed an initial functional prototype to validate token transactions and digital wallet integration. This phase allowed us to test real-time automated settlements within the resort ecosystem to ensure the core logic was sound before full-scale development.

Full-Scale Development

Developers from Jelvix built a React Native mobile app to provide a contactless guest experience and implemented Solidity smart contracts to handle the logic. Our experts implemented the backend part using Node.js and PostgreSQL, as well as integrating the wallets via MetaMask and WalletConnect. We used Unity to make the tokens suitable for a fully immersive 3D experience.

QA and Validation

Testing covered smart contracts, transaction flows, and multi-channel integration, with a focus on payment security and transaction finality. Our experts also ran the system under high-traffic conditions to confirm stability before launch.

Deployment and Optimization
